The Opportunity

As part of our Operations Team, the Inbound Planner is responsible soliciting and coordinating profitable backhauls from the United States and within Canada while maintaining low empty mile percentages.

We are looking for an individual with a high attention to detail, a positive attitude, who is driven and enjoys working in a fast paced environment.

  • Standard office hours; Monday to Friday from approximately 8:00am to 5:00pm

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage and effectively plan drivers and loads based on customer requirements in Canada and the US
  • Quote and supply rates to third parties
  • Trace and load plan entry for customers and third parties
  • Calculate rates for loads
  • Accurately piecing together LTL shipments and negotiating with third party carriers to generate revenue
  • Effectively plan drivers according to Hours of Service
  • Work with Driver Coordinator to achieve optimization
  • Work with customers, drivers, sales to deliver exception customer service
  • Perform other related duties assigned by management as required

What you need to be successful in the role:

  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of planning experience is required
  • Experience in the transportation industry considered to be an asset
  • Secondary School diploma preferred
  • Flatbed knowledge and rating preferred
  • Possess a good working knowledge of North American geography
  • Strong self-discipline to effectively complete tasks without constant supervision
  • Self-starter with strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with Loadlink and MS Excel
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Positive, outgoing and friendly personality
