Role Summary:
ASL Distribution Services is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Lead Dispatcher to join our growing team.  As a Lead Dispatcher, you will be joining one of Canada’s largest providers of Distribution and Logistics services.

Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm

Key Accountabilities:
In this role, you will:
  • Oversee a driving roster of approximately seven (7) owner operators and brokers with additional support for our other geographic divisions (Greater Toronto Area, Buffalo, NY).
  • Strong familiarity of North American geography, included, but not limited to, the Greater Toronto Area, Mid-Western United States and New York State.
  • Work alongside Customs Clerk surrounding the timely preparation of Customs Documents for Cross Border Shipments and coordinate with customs brokers to clear shipments.  Follow up when required to ensure customs clearances are registered.
  • Work alongside other department(s) and stakeholders to ensure priority accounts are effectively serviced.
  • Respond to customer concerns and respond to e-mails received surrounding Highway operations.
  • Source inbound and outbound lanes across commonly serviced territories to ensure full utilization of ASL Distribution Highway Fleet (i.e. Load Link, Customer Bases, etc.)
  • Develop weekly plan of Inbound and Outbound Highway Loads ensuring that each driver has adequate volume to support business needs.
  • Provide oversight on Third Party Logistics providers for set scheduled routes and develop Weekend Delivery Plans for sensitive company accounts.
  • Actively search for available freight through various networks to complement existing lanes and/or develop new lanes for service.
  • Assist in tasks and duties as assigned by the Dispatch Manager.

Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Education & Experience:
  • Minimum two (2) years of cross-border dispatch experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of organizational planning and execution.
Skills & Attributes:
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel.
  • Sound knowledge of Transportation Regulations and Safety Standards.
  • Proficiency in GPS based software is considered an asset (i.e. Samsara).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Professional Logistics Designation (CCLP) is considered an asset.
