Based out of our office in Oakville, ON, ASL Distribution Services is seeking a skilled and highly motivated City Dispatcher to join our growing team.  As a City Dispatcher you will be joining one of Canada’s largest providers of Distribution and Logistics services. 

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Manage fleet team of approximately 15 plus trucks consisting of company drivers and owner operators.
  • Assign deliveries and pick-ups utilizing tractor-trailers and straight trucks servicing customers across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
  • Collaborate with other departments and divisions of ASL Distribution Services to assist in projects and assignments.
  • Plan and optimize delivery routes based on factors such as distance, traffic conditions and delivery commitment times to maximize efficiency and meet customer requirements.
  • Manage inventory of assigned trailer(s) and fleet equipment, including but not limited to, updating load status’, reserving equipment for specific projects and updating inventory management software.
  • Ensure fleet complies with safety regulations and company policies, including vehicle maintenance, driver safety scores and adherence to training curriculums.
  • Clear previous day(s) shipments in system and assign following day and future deliveries.
  • Monitor and manage demurrage charges for trailers from customers such as Amazon, Gateway, and Walmart.
  • Utilize the FLX system to mastermind order ratings, ensuring accurate and efficient order processing.
  • Daily tracking and completion of driver trips, ensuring timely progression and closure.
  • Prepare driver envelopes containing necessary documents and information for the next day's trips.
  • Coordinate and schedule truck routes to maximize efficiency and meet customer requirements.
  • Monitor and progress after-hours shipments, keeping customers informed of any relevant updates.
  • Scan Proof of Deliveries (PODs) at the end of each day to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Regularly report trailers that have not been used for over 48 hours to the dispatch team.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum two (2) years of Ontario-based dispatch experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience managing an asset-based fleet of approximately fifty (50) trucks and one hundred (100) trailers.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel.
  • Sound knowledge of Transportation Regulations and Safety Standards.
  • Proficiency in GPS based software is considered an asset (i.e. Samsara).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
Professional Logistics Designation (CCLP) is considered an asset.
