Purpose of Position: The Safety & Compliance Supervisor is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Safety & Compliance Division, which includes leading and developing the Safety & Compliance Division.
The Supervisor provides continuous improvement in safety & compliance functions to increase operational efficiencies and is also responsible for ensuring that the Company is meeting regulatory requirements as per MTO/DOT and Insurance regulations.
Key Accountabilities:
Provides recommended changes to safety procedures to ensure company’s compliance with applicable legislation.
Conducts workplace inspections and records results; takes required actions to ensure compliance.
Investigates and documents workplace injuries.
Oversees the Company’s drug and alcohol program for drivers.
Oversees overall driver safety performance.
Reviews and ensures CVOR is correct and follow up on any unreported incidents. Ensure fleet is ready for all MTO/DOT blitz, MTO audits etc.
Ensures Compliance such as IFTA reporting, Yearly plate renewals, Emissions tests, and other Certificates are requested timely.
E-log review on hours of service, assist drivers a required, inspect and rectify and mistakes to ensure compliance with MTO/DOT.
Conduct periodic inspections of 3rd party carriers to ensure their fleet and drivers are compliant with MTO/DTO as per ASL standards.
Onboarding of new drivers of ASL policies and procedures, Dangerous Goods training.
Attends all Health and Safety Committee meetings on behalf of the Fleet Department.

Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
Minimum five (5) years of progressive safety and compliance experience; previous supervisory experience considered to be an asset.
Certified Director of Safety (CDS) or Certified Safety Supervisor (CSS) considered to be an asset.
Prior work experience in the transportation industry is required.
Specific knowledge of the Canadian Occupational Health & Safety Regulations, FMCSA, MTO and Canada Labour Code Part II.
Knowledge of current Workplace Health and Safety issues.
Intermediate Microsoft Office Skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)

Working Conditions:
This position will be working in an office environment, using typical office equipment. This position may require occasional travel.
