Driver Coordinator
Operations - Windsor, ON, Canada - Full Time
TLS (Challenger Group of Companies) is seeking a skilled and experienced Driver Coordinator to join our dynamic team. As the main point of contact between our organization and the backbone of the transportation industry AZ Drivers, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth coordination of shipments from pick-up to delivery. The ideal candidate should thrive in challenging situations, maintain composure in stressful scenarios, and contribute to a positive company image through safe and ethical practices.
Responsibilities:
- Dispatch drivers efficiently for load pick-ups and deliveries to meet customer requirements.
- Coordinate and adjust daily routes as needed to accommodate customer needs.
- Monitor and address sudden route changes or delays during transit; establish alternative routes to prevent delays.
- Provide assistance to drivers with routing directions and ensure proper execution.
- Maintain high compliance with dispatch standards and operating procedures.
- Communicate specific freight requirements and procedures to drivers.
- Update customer web portals with real-time load information.
- Ensure proper placement of the trailer pool to support daily customer requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in trucking dispatch is preferred.
- Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills with team members, other departments, customers, and drivers.
- Availability to work various shifts and weekends.
- Ability to manage high-stress situations calmly and effectively.
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) & Ministry of Transportation (MTO) rules and regulations is preferred.
- Familiarity with Penske Board & TMW and ACI/ACE Manifests, including FAST Portal & Releases.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- TMW knowledge is preferred.
- Quick learner with a strong attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong self-discipline and initiative.
- Creative and effective problem-solving ability.
